Ash says virtually all of the company’s initial sessions begin with home purchasers sharing their thoughts and ideas. Most come to the company armed with photographs and pictures from architectural and design magazines. A few will have architectural plans that have been commissioned through a local designer. The initial information sharing sessions form the backbone for an architectural and design program.
Jim’s wife, Paulette, serves as the lead interior designer for Pineapple’s custom home activities. Together they design as a team. Jim focuses on the big picture architectural issues including flow and function, and fundamental construction issues. Paulette brings her vast design experience to the table with emphasis on the creation of comfort, warmth and color in the home.
As a result of their extensive travels to Europe and their market research throughout North America, both are students of historical design and the evolution of architecture in America. With their clients, they experiment with traditional and innovative concepts and integrate these ideas in unfamiliar ways.
“We are always seeking new products and learning about new features and construction techniques in order to create a truly unique living environment for our clients,” said Paulette Ash, director of design. “Our homeowners expect it from us.”

While the residential housing market has cooled, the custom side of the Pineapple Corporation’s business has been robust. Ash indicated that the company has never been busier. The design team also has been working on a pallet of new semi-custom floor plans and new custom coastal architecture designs which are expected to be released soon.
